If the first thought that comes to mind is the Tragically Hip song of the same name, you're not alone - but there's a reason the late Gord Downie loved Bobcaygeon. Bobcaygeon is a fabulous winter getaway area. Here's our top 5 list of local things to do in the winter time at Kawartha Lakes.
1.) Go Snowshoeing!
- Kawartha TransCanada Trail takes you 29 astonishing metres above Buttermilk Valley for an unforgettable view of the area.
- Great for snowshoers or hikers
2.) Ice Fishing at Scugog Lake
- Located between Port Perry and Lindsay, this shallow man-made lake is weedy, so make sure you have a heavier line than usual.
3.) Go Snowmobiling!
- The Ontario Federation of Snowmobile Clubs maintains the 160km of trails beautifully.
- The Twins Mountain Snowmobile Club offers lessons, guidemaps, permits and more.
4.) Ice Skating
- The refrigerated skating loop in the new Logie Park is open all season, it runs 133 feet by 91 feet and offers stone benches to sit while you lace up.
- There are also several ice rinks nearby for hockey players
5.) Visit a Frozen Waterfall
- Fenelon Falls is famous for its tumbling waterway that offers scenic views any time of the year.
- In winter, Hydro Dam Trail is particularly stunning due to the sight of the frozen waterfalls.

Reviews
5 stars across the board. Any issues that previous guests may have mentioned have all been fixed. We had no problems whatsoever. Our hosts were lovely, polite, and responsive. The place was extremely clean and modern (don't let the closed store below fool you), well stocked, very easy to find, easy to get in with the smart lock, a 5-minute walk to town, air-conditioned, the shower was fantastic, I could go on and on...would definitely stay here again if we return to Bobcaygeon. Thank you, Amanda and Brix!
Thank you so much for your wonderful review. Kerry! We're happy to hear that you had such a positive experience and that all your expectations were met during your stay. It's great to know that the location, cleanliness, and amenities were exactly what you were looking for, and we’re especially glad you found the smart lock convenient and enjoyed the air conditioning and shower. We appreciate your kind words about our hospitality and hope to welcome you back to Bobcaygeon in the future. Thank you again for choosing to stay with us!Posted: 9/9/2024
