The Calgary Stampede

Dubbed as "The Greatest Outdoor Show on Earth" this annual 10-day event in July features a spectacular rodeo, world-class grandstand shows and nostalgic fairground thrill rides.

The Calgary Tower

Dating back to 1968, this was once the tallest building in Calgary. Now it offers breathtaking 360-degree panoramic view of the city, and the prairies, foothills and Rocky Mountains. There's a glass bottom floor where you can perch above the traffic below,  and a revolving restaurant at the top.

Calgary Farmer's Market

Open Thursday through Sunday year-round (don't worry—it's all indoors!), the Calgary Farmers' Market draws more than 20,000 visitors each week. Here you'll find 70-plus vendors selling everything from fresh local produce and preserves to baked goods.

Outdoor and Adventure
Float Along the Bow River

Canoe, kayak, or raft along this river that runs through the city. There are a number of places to rent these items, plus multiple launch spots along the river. 

Prince's Island Park

This 49-hectare park is right smack in the middle of the Bow River. The park hosts a number of festivals and performances throughout the year. 

Bowness Park

Bowness Park is one of Calgary's most popular parks. It features a shallow lagoon popular for paddle boating in the summer and ice skating in the winter. The park also also has a wading pool, boat rentals and a children's train ride.

Shopping and Dining Areas
Inglewood

Inglewood is Calgary's original main street and has the history to prove it. Today, this historic neighbourhood is a bohemian paradise of unique shops, restaurants, and live music venues that are all part of the Music Mile.

17th Ave Southwest

Known as the "Red Mile," 17th Avenue SW is a bustling street in the heart of the city that's lined with trendy boutiques, bars, and restaurants. This is the place to go for high-end fashion, unique gifts and home decor. When you need a break from shopping, stop at one of the many restaurants or cafes for a bite to eat.

Kensington

Kensington is a vibrant neighbourhood located just north of downtown that's known for its trendy shops and independent businesses. Here you'll find everything from designer clothing to vinyl records to handmade soap.
